This Week - Dec 1st-10th

The last week has been rife with preparations for our nativity play.  Rehearsals have involved learning new songs and learning their roles and the children are very exited to show you what they've prepared!

As always with our activities, one thing leads to many others.  The children have been creating puppets for the nativity play in our crafts activities and the songs have lead to a new interest in music which has translated into experimenting with sound and creating music.  Pots, pans and maracas, along with other improvised percussive instruments became the focus of the children's interest, both inside and outside.  This led to some great physical development and creative arts and expression because, along with some great music we got to try some wonderful dance moves!

We gained an understanding of the world by using water and different sized containers to explore the effects of pouring and floating and sinking. We also used mathematical skills to make judgements about size, weight and volume while filling, poring and emptying our containers.

We had a great week exploring these and lots of other activities. To see more images of them please see our Children's Activities page.
